The Loir is the perfect venue for any anglers’ first attempt at river carping and the Cher is also a fantastic river to tackle encounter large cats and carp. the record on "our strech" of the cher is 2m18 for a cat and 24kilos for a carp, the average weight is around 10 kilos and we normally catch one or two each per day. unlike the canals of Holland and the bigger rivers of france we have no barges to ruin your baiting campaign. Also no problems with reaching the far bank as the loir and cher are both excellent rivers for accurate casting and this makes the Loir beginner friendly. The narrow river is slow flowing and the lily-lined margins make both the rivers seem lake like.
We make river fishing exceptionally easy for the traveling angler and can pre-bait and prepare swims prior to your arrival; so all you have to do is turn up and fish! - Let us guide you - We supply boats, cat rods and all heavy tackle needed can be sourced from us.

The summer of 2006 a friend accompanied me on a session to the River Cher, between us we managed around 35 runs in 48hours, landing 16 carp to 33lb, Loirbaits PFG doing the business, the rest being barbel and large chub. We were both smashed up a couple of times each, even with the heavy line we were spooled up with as the section where we chose has a high number of cats to 80lb+, at 10pm we were sipping on a beer when my left hand rod burst into life, I struck hard into a powerful fish, my rod bent over and my clutch started whizzing away, I lost a lot of line in seconds, I cupped the spool and pulled into the unknown assailant, reeling as fast as I could, the fish began hunting out snags on the far bank, I battled desperately in order to stop him reaching the safe haven, after what seemed an age, I watched a large swirl in front of me and Gerard slipped my net under the unknown beast, he turned on his head torch as we peered down into the net, "oh a cat" I said, laying the net on the mat I looked at the hook link and noticed it was a metal trace, wrapped around this was my leader which left the net and entered the river, I stood up and gently pulled on the leader, "Another fish !" I shouted, Gerard grabbed his landing net while I hand lined the fish into the net, Gerard struggled to lift the net up on the second fish as we wondered what I had got this time, I assisted him in lifting the net onto the mat, next to the first, another Cat, the first went 22lb, the second 53lb. Come prepared!
